The species Paenibacillus jamilae was originally described and validly published by Aguilera et al. 2001. Kwak et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Paenibacillus polymyxa (Prażmowski 1880) Ash et al. 1994 emend. Kwak et al. 2020
in 2020.
