Nomenclatural History
The species Paenibacillus macerans was originally described by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. Kobayashi et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019. Ash et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Schardinger 1905 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Ash et al. 1994 emend. Huang et al. 2017. Kobayashi et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Zhou et al. 2013 in 2019.
