Nomenclatural History
The species Paenibacillus macquariensis was originally described by Ash et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 51 in 1994. Ash et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species Marshall and Ohye 1966 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Ash et al. 1994 emend. Huang et al. 2017. In 2009, Hoshino et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Marshall and Ohye 1966) Hoshino et al. 2009 .
