Nomenclatural History
|
The family Planococcaceae was originally proposed by Krasil'nikov 1949. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gupta and Patel established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Caryophanaceae Peshkoff 1939 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta and Patel 2019
in 2019. Gupta and Patel transferred the members of this family into
Caryophanaceae Peshkoff 1939 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta and Patel 2019
in 2019.
Gupta and Patel 2019 reverse (or invert) the unification of Caryophanaceae into Planococcaceae by Ludwig et al. 2009. The new unification of Planococcaceae into Caryophanaceae adheres to the rules of priority.
