Nomenclatural History
The genus Planococcus was originally proposed by Migula 1894. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Kocur published an emended description of this genus in 1974. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Nakagawa et al. in 1996, Yoon et al. in 2010 and Gupta and Patel in 2019.
