Nomenclatural History

The species Planococcus okeanokoites was originally described and validly published by Nakagawa et al. 1996. Nakagawa et al. formed this name in 1996 by placing the species
Flavobacterium okeanokoites ZoBell and Upham 1944 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Planococcus Migula 1894 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Gupta and Patel 2019. In 2001, Yoon et al. established Planococcus okeanokoites as the basonym of
Planomicrobium okeanokoites (ZoBell and Upham 1944) Yoon et al. 2001
.
