The species Filibacter limicola was originally described by Maiden and Jones 1984. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 18 in 1985. In 2019, Gupta and Patel established as the basonym of corrig. (Maiden and Jones 1985) Gupta and Patel 2020 .
