Nomenclatural History
The species Planomicrobium mcmeekinii was originally described and validly published by Yoon et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. Yoon et al. formed this name in 2001 by placing the species Junge et al. 1998 into the genus Yoon et al. 2001.

Gupta and Patel 2019 effectively reverse the placement of this species into Planomicrobium by Yoon et al. 2001.
