The subspecies Staphylococcus saprophyticus bovis was originally described and validly published by Hájek et al. 1996. Madhaiyan et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Staphylococcus saprophyticus saprophyticus (Fairbrother 1940) Shaw et al. 1951 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2020.
