Nomenclatural History
|
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 54 in 1995. The species Thermus thermophilus was originally described by Oshima and Imahori 1974. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1994 the name was revived by Manaia et al.. García-López et al. published an emended description of this species in 2019.
