Nomenclatural History	The species Salinicoccus hispanicus was originally described by Ventosa et al. 1992. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 44 in 1993. Ventosa et al. formed this name in 1992 by placing the species Marinococcus hispanicus Marquez et al. 1990 into the genus Salinicoccus Ventosa et al. 1990.
