The species Thermoactinomyces putidus was originally described by Lacey and Cross 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. In 2005, Yoon et al. established Thermoactinomyces putidus as the basonym of
Laceyella putida (Lacey and Cross 1989) Yoon et al. 2005 emend. Jiang et al. 2019
.
