Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Thermoactinomyces thalpophilus was originally described by Waksman and Corke 1953. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1989 the name was revived by Lacey and Cross. Yoon et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of Lacey 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2000.
