Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Lactobacillus delbrueckii bulgaricus was originally described by Weiss et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 14 in 1984. Weiss et al. elevated the species Lactobacillus bulgaricus (Orla-Jensen 1919) Rogosa and Hansen 1971 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies to form this name in 1983.
