Nomenclatural History

The species Lactobacillus arizonensis was originally described and validly published by Swezey et al. 2000. Kostinek et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Lactobacillus plantarum (Orla-Jensen 1919) Bergey et al. 1923 (Approved Lists 1980)
in 2005.
