Nomenclatural History
The species Lactobacillus fructivorans was originally described by Charlton et al. 1934. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Zhao and Gu published an emended description of this species in 2019. Weiss et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Kitahara et al. 1957 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1983. Weiss et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Fornachon et al. 1949 (Approved Lists 1980) in 1983. In 2020, Zheng et al. established as the basonym of (Charlton et al. 1934) Zheng et al. 2020 .
