Nomenclatural History
|
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. The species Lactobacillus halotolerans was originally described by Reuter 1970. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived by Kandler et al.. In 1993, Collins et al. established Lactobacillus halotolerans as the basonym of
Weissella halotolerans (Kandler et al. 1983) Collins et al. 1994
.
