Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 61 in 1997. The species Lactobacillus lindneri was originally described by Henneberg 1901. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1996 the name was revived by Back et al.. In 2020, Zheng et al. established Lactobacillus lindneri as the basonym of
Fructilactobacillus lindneri (Back et al. 1997) Zheng et al. 2020
