Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. The species Lactobacillus minor was originally described by Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived by Kandler et al.. In 1993, Collins et al. established as the basonym of (Kandler et al. 1983) Collins et al. 1994 .
