Nomenclatural History
The species Lactobacillus pentosus was originally described by Fred et al. 1921. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1987 the name was revived and validly published by Zanoni et al.. In 2020, Zheng et al. established as the basonym of (Zanoni et al. 1987) Zheng et al. 2020 .
