The species Lactobacillus piscicola was originally described and validly published by Hiu et al. 1984. Collins et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Shaw and Harding 1986 in 1987. In 1987, Collins et al. established as the basonym of (Hiu et al. 1984) Collins et al. 1987 .
