The species Lactobacillus trichodes was originally described by Fornachon et al. 1949. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Weiss et al. established this name as a later heterotypic synonym of
Lactobacillus fructivorans Charlton et al. 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) emend. Zhao and Gu 2019
in 1983.
