Nomenclatural History	The subspecies Lactobacillus yamanashiensis mali was originally described by Carr and Davies 1970. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Nonomura. In 1983, Nonomura reduced Lactobacillus mali Carr and Davies 1970 (Approved Lists 1980) to the rank of subspecies.
