Nomenclatural History
|
The genus Enterococcus was originally proposed by Thiercelin and Jouhaud 1903. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1984 the name was revived and validly published by Schleifer and Kilpper-Bälz.
