Nomenclatural History
The species Enterococcus cecorum was originally described by Williams et al. 1989. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. Williams et al. formed this name in 1989 by placing the species Devriese et al. 1983 into the genus (ex Thiercelin and Jouhaud 1903) Schleifer and Kilpper-Bälz 1984.
