The species Enterococcus gallinarum was originally described and validly published by Collins et al. 1984. Collins et al. formed this name in 1984 by placing the species
Streptococcus gallinarum Bridge and Sneath 1982
into the genus Enterococcus (ex Thiercelin and Jouhaud 1903) Schleifer and Kilpper-Bälz 1984.
