The species Enterococcus villorum was originally described and validly published by Vancanneyt et al. 2001. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 81 in 2008. De Graef et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of
Enterococcus porcinus Teixeira et al. 2001
in 2003.
