Nomenclatural History
The species Tetragenococcus halophilus was originally described by Collins et al. 1990. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 44 in 1993. Collins et al. formed this name in 1990 by placing the species Mees 1934 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Collins et al. 1993. In 2012, Justé et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Mees 1934) Justé et al. 2012 .
