Nomenclatural History

The species Weissella confusa was originally described by Collins et al. 1993. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 49 in 1994. Collins et al. formed this name in 1993 by placing the species
Lactobacillus confusus (Holzapfel and Kandler 1969) Sharpe et al. 1972 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Weissella Collins et al. 1994 emend. Bello et al. 2022.
