Nomenclatural History
The species Streptococcus agalactiae was originally described by Lehmann and Neumann 1896. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was placed onto the nomina taxorum conservanda by Judicial Opinion 8 in 1954. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 27 in 1963. Kawamura et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of corrig. Eldar et al. 1995 in 2005.
