Nomenclatural History	The species Streptococcus ferus was originally described by Coykendall 1977. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Coykendall. Baele et al. published an emended description of this species in 2003.
