Nomenclatural History
This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 31 in 1989. The species Oscillochloris trichoides was originally described by Szafer 1910. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1979 the name was revived by Gorlenko and Korotkov. Keppen et al. published an emended description of this species in 2000.
