Nomenclatural History
The species Streptococcus oralis was originally described and validly published by Bridge and Sneath 1982. Kilian et al. published an emended description of this species in 1989. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Jensen et al. in 2016. In 2016, Jensen et al. reduced this species to the rank of subspecies to form (Bridge and Sneath 1982) Jensen et al. 2016 .
