Nomenclatural History

The species Streptococcus parvulus was originally described and validly published by Cato 1983. Cato formed this name in 1983 by placing the species
Peptostreptococcus parvulus (Weinberg et al. 1937) Smith 1957 (Approved Lists 1980)
into the genus Streptococcus Rosenbach 1884 emend. Deibel and Seeley 1974 (Approved Lists 1980). In 1992, Collins and Wallbanks established Streptococcus parvulus as the basonym of
Atopobium parvulum (Weinberg et al. 1937) Collins and Wallbanks 1993
