Nomenclatural History	The species Streptococcus plantarum was originally described by Collins et al. 1983. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 14 in 1984. In 1985, Schleifer et al. established Streptococcus plantarum as the basonym of Lactococcus plantarum (Collins et al. 1984) Schleifer et al. 1986 .
