Nomenclatural History	The species Lactococcus raffinolactis was originally described by Schleifer et al. 1985. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 25 in 1988. Schleifer et al. formed this name in 1985 by placing the species Streptococcus raffinolactis Orla-Jensen and Hansen 1932 (Approved Lists 1980) into the genus Lactococcus Schleifer et al. 1986.
