Nomenclatural History
The species Atopobium fossor was originally described by Kageyama et al. 1999. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 71 in 1999. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. Kageyama et al. formed this name in 1999 by placing the species Bailey and Love 1986 into the genus Collins and Wallbanks 1993 emend. Cools et al. 2014.
