Nomenclatural History
The species Arthrobacter ilicis was originally described by Collins et al. 1981. This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 9 in 1982. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 87 in 2008. This name replaces the name Mandel et al. 1961 (Approved Lists 1980) . In 2016, Busse established as the basonym of (Collins et al. 1982) Busse 2016 .

Although Judicial Opinion 87 states that Corynebacterium ilicis and Arthrobacter ilicis are not homotypic synonyms, a 16S comparison clearly establishes that the strain belongs in Arthrobacter.
