Nomenclatural History

The genus Tropheryma was originally proposed and validly published by La Scola et al. 2001.
Tindall 2019 asserts that the nomenclatural type is based upon a patent strain and is therefore illegitimate. Consequently, this genus is also illegitimate until a publicly available deposit is made available.
