Nomenclatural History
The genus Dermatophilus was originally proposed by Gordon 1964. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Gordon published an emended description of this genus in 1974. A subsequent emendation was proposed by Hamada et al. in 2010.
