The family Intrasporangiaceae was originally proposed by 1997. This name was validly published by Stackebrandt et al. 1997. Stackebrandt and Schumann published an emended description of this family in 2000. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Zhi et al. in 2009 and Nouioui et al. in 2018.
