Nomenclatural History
The genus Microbacterium was originally proposed by Orla-Jensen 1919. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Takeuchi and Hatano published an emended description of this genus in 1998. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Krishnamurthi et al. in 2012, Alves et al. in 2014 and Fidalgo et al. in 2016. Takeuchi and Hatano transferred the members of Collins et al. 1983 emend. Yokota et al. 1993 into this genus in 1998.
