Nomenclatural History

This name became validly published when it appeared on Validation List No. 11 in 1983. The species Aureobacterium liquefaciens was originally described by Orla-Jensen 1919. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived by Collins et al.. In 1998, Takeuchi and Hatano established Aureobacterium liquefaciens as the basonym of
Microbacterium liquefaciens (Collins et al. 1983) Takeuchi and Hatano 1998
