The species Curtobacterium pusillum was originally described by Yamada and Komagata 1972. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Garrity et al. established as a later homotypic synonym of Iizuka and Komagata 1965 (Approved Lists 1980) in 2007.
