Nomenclatural History
The species Leifsonia rubra was originally described and validly published by Reddy et al. 2003. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 96 in 2014. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018.

The deposits cited by Reddy et al. 2003 do not match the type strain (CMS 76r). This name is to be considered to be validly published. A search is to be made for derivatives of strain CMS 76r that are to be deposited in at least two different collections in two different countries. Alternatively, a search is to be made for an appropriate neotype that is to be proposed in accordance with Rule 18c of the International Code of Nomenclature of Bacteria.
