The species Corynebacterium fascians was originally described by Dowson 1942. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. In 1984, Goodfellow established as the basonym of (Tilford 1936) Goodfellow 1984 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 .
