The species Corynebacterium ilicis was originally described by Mandel et al. 1961. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. This name was affected by Judicial Opinion 87 in 2008. Judicial Commission of the International Committee on Systematics of Prokaryotes replaced this name with (Mandel et al. 1961) Collins et al. 1982 in 2008.
