Nomenclatural History
The family Mycobacteriaceae was originally proposed by Chester 1897. This name appeared on the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names 1980. Stackebrandt et al. published an emended description of this family in 1997. Subsequent emendations were proposed by Zhi et al. in 2009, Gupta et al. in 2018 and Nouioui et al. in 2018.
