Nomenclatural History	The species Mycobacterium austroafricanum was originally described and validly published by Tsukamura et al. 1983. Nouioui et al. published an emended description of this species in 2018. In 2018, Gupta et al. established Mycobacterium austroafricanum as the basonym of Mycolicibacterium austroafricanum (Tsukamura et al. 1983) Gupta et al. 2018 . Nouioui et al. established this name as an earlier heterotypic synonym of Mycobacterium vanbaalenii Khan et al. 2002 emend. Nouioui et al. 2018 in 2018.
