Nomenclatural History
The species Mycobacterium diernhoferi was originally described by Bönicke and Juhasz 1965. It pre-dated the Approved Lists of Bacterial Names but was excluded from those lists. In 1983 the name was revived and validly published by Tsukamura et al.. In 2018, Gupta et al. established as the basonym of (Tsukamura et al. 1983) Gupta et al. 2018 .
